April Showers bring May Flowers
May flowers bring Spring weddings. In honor of one of the loveliest months of the year, and to kickoff this celebratory season, let’s raise a glass of bubbly and welcome it in all its glory! We’re loving some of the trends popping up in prepration for Spring nuptuals and the receptions following…
Color: Infusing color only into those big details by taking a neutral, muted palette and adding just a touch of bold color like poppy red, tangerine, indigo blue or even Pantone’s Color of the Year, radiant orchid. For example…Play up a soft palette with dendrobium orchid centerpieces in the vibrant purple hue. Looking for less color pop? Rose Gold is showing up as a fresh and fitting alternative to gold and silver and works beautifully with more muted tones.
Pattern and Texture: The romance of lace in blush, champagne, ecru, eggshell and ivory is looking to be on trend for Spring. Watercolored patterns with soft, romantic painted florals and diffused pastel colors are also showing up on fabrics as well as papers for invitations. For more colorful celebrations, table clothes and backdrops in luxe hand embroidered ethnic patterns and ikat steal the show.
Cake: Floral motifs are always big, but this spring, cakes are going back to basics and letting fresh flowers and greenery take front and center, instead of icing and design. This season’s naked cakes will include fresh, seasonal fruits, like figs and grapes, for a light update to winter’s heavier gilded details and ornate designs. Simple cakes really steal the show in elaborately designed cake tables with garland-covered backdrops mimicking the details of the cake.
